East Bay Flag Football: Bringing the Game Back to Its Roots

Hello Friends & Families of East Bay NFL Flag, East Bay Express and East Bay Flag Football,

I’m Peter Ferioli - the current owner and operator of East Bay NFL Flag and former Executive Director East Bay Flag Football (a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation).

Over the last 10 years, flag football has exploded. Girls Flag is surging. High school programs are multiplying. The NFL now showcases flag at the Pro Bowl and NFL professional flag football leagues are emerging. And with flag football officially part of the 2028 Olympics, the opportunities for young athletes are greater than anything we imagined a decade ago when we began as a small neighborhood program.

With that growth in mind, and commitment to the community that built this league, I’m bringing things back to the heart of where it all started. Easy Bay NFL Flag is now part of East Bay Flag Football and is returning to its non-profit roots, focused on creating a fun, safe, and exciting environment for East Bay kids to learn, compete, and fall in love with this sport.

What’s New for 2026

A Unified League Structure:
All East Bay NFL leagues are under East Bay Flag Football (EBFF). Alameda and Oakland will run through one platform, one calendar, and one operations team; consistent, clear, and community-focused.

A Major Investment in Girls Flag Football
Girls Flag continues to grow rapidly, and EBFF is dedicated to be a part of that growth. Our new Girls Flag Program includes: Accessible pricing Flexible team formation Elementary, Middle School, and High School groupings A guaranteed pathway for all girls who want to play and/or take their game to the next levelGirls deserve their own competitive environment—this program ensures they have it.

Proven Format, Reintroduced With Purpose
The familiar 8-week structure remains:
Week 1: Coaches meeting, team formation, skills evaluation
Week 2: Preseason scrimmage
Weeks 3–7: Regular season
Week 8: Playoffs & Championships

We’re also preserving traditions —like our Memorial Match-Up and Winter Bowl Tournaments— these events shape the culture of EBFF.

Fields, Locations & Expansion
We plan to operate fields in both Alameda and at Oakland High’s new turf field for Spring 2025.We are also offering all teams, coaches and players FREE optional midweek training and practice space during the Spring 2026 season.

Spring 2026 Pricing
Our focus is on accessibility and growing the game - we are lowering our prices to assist and get more kids playing this amazing sport!
Boys Program: $200
Girls Program: $100
Every registration includes an NFL Flag jersey, flags, league operations, referees, insurance, and field access.
